Worship should be edifying because it should be true to God's word. We only worship God rightly when we worship him for who he really is, most fully revealed in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Heartfelt worship is what God commands throughout the Bible, not simply with our lips and outward actions, but with our hearts and minds.
Our worship should be historical because we are but a single local church that is connected to Christ's universal church, which spans the globe and 2,000 years. And so, even though our worship is situated, we see to choose prayers, songs, creeds, and structures that remind us that we worship with the church throughout the world and throughout the ages.
Our worship at Trinity is what is often referred to as "liturgical worship", which simply means that it is structured. We believe structure or order to our worship allows us to worship God in that heartfelt, edifying, and historically connected way.
