||A THOUGHT FROM YESTERDAY'S SERMON ON PSALM 11
by Jen Straka
Have you ever been terrified of a storm? Did the lightning and thunder cause you to hide under the covers or run into your parents’ room in the middle of the night? Do you know who also got scared? King David. Yes, a king was scared! He was scared for his own life! But you know what else? When David was afraid, God comforted him. God knows our fears, and He cares about them no matter how small they seem. David knew that God was his refuge, that means his safe place. When David was afraid and surrounded by his enemies, he cried out to God. And one of the many wonderful things about God is that He always was, always is, and always will be in control. God is all-powerful, and He sits on His throne. But this does not mean He is a King who is far away from us. He is very close and sees our every fear, so we can be encouraged that the God who comforted King David also comforts us.
